geesh
I've been working at B & D's so much lately I never get a chance to do anything, much less update my gosh darn blog!!
So I'm doing the t-shirt tomorrow. Two different logos, one for the back of our shirts and one for the back of the new challenge t. Pretty exciting! In the meantime, here is our server board. The girls asked me to take it home and write the essentials on it in permanent ink.. here is what I did!

Alright well i'm off to order a pizza. Yes, a pizza. I'm hungry and I just don't feel like leaving the house! Plus Nick is at work until midnight, I don't work tomorrow (HORRAY!!) and we're going for drinks later.. this means I need a full tummy. Goodnight all!

lalala
So I sent the last two images to the author (Allen I think?) and he said "I love it! we'll talk soon". I don't like this man very much lol. He's not giving me enough information. AT ALL.
So, in the meantime, I am continuing to work on the B and D's logo for their tshirt. Nick is finished with finals today WOOT! so I hope we can do something fun with the dogs. I took them to the park yesterday by myself and we had a great time. I love spending my time with them. So, here is a photo (or two!) of the pups at the park :) enjoy!

logos and childrens books!

So, I have a HUGE update!!
I may be illustrating an upcoming childrens book. It's his first book he's publishing and he needs an illustrator. 40 pages, 200$ for the book and whatever sales come from it. Not so hot, but exposure is priceless. All I know so far is it's a little four-year old girl with blonde hair and blue eyes. So I have a sketch I will be coloring today at Morris.
I was hired today at B & D Burgers on Broughton Street here in Sa
vannah. The owner hired me and we talked about redesigning his tshirt, adding a logo to the back of the shirt. I am SO excited because I already really like their logo, but I get to try and make it better! So here is my first idea I just cranked out.Anywho, I will be coloring things today, so I gg and keep working on the sketches! Thanks for the comments. Love you all!

Little Hams!!

Today, our baby hams opened their eyes and began roaming the cage!! Didn't last too long though and they're back to sleeping constantly. Mom (Olivia) doesn't seem to want to be with them as much and has been doing her own thing today. Dad (Eliott) is still in the other cage and I think he's beginning to become depressed because of his isolation. As soon as the boys are old enough, they will be put in with him.. this is why we have two cages.
Two brown ones (like this little guy/girl) like Olivia, two blonde ones like Eliott, the other two I can't recall cause they're hiding under Olivia, but one of them is a greyish-blue and it's totally my favorite! They will all have Law and Order: SVU names like their mom and dad soon.

Character Development

Last night I began working on some new characters which will hopefully make it to the photoshop stage. Sometimes it's hard for me to fall in love with a character enough to want to take it to the next level. Last night's sketches began with copying the Locos logo off of my boyfriend's to-go cup. I was clearly bored, but after that was finished, I felt I was warmed up enough to take on creating something new.
The main page shows an array for characters. starting from the left is my otter. I changed some things about his face to make him more otter-like. I'm still having a difficult time nailing the likeness of a true otter, but I'm getting closer. I put the tiny sea horse in the middle because they're so cute and tiny. My new character, the bear, has his head shot on the right hand side of the page. I really like how I drew him without thinking anything would come of the image. I ended up basing other drawings on that head shot. I put his head on a bear's body in the lower left hand corner, but I think the body looks more like an adult bear than a cubs. As far as the last bear on the right, I don't like him so we can just ignore him lol.

I blew up the bear face just so you could see details better. I really like the way that his mouth seems to be wider than say the otter. This gives the illusion that he has a snout, and makes him more bear-like. The 'star' spot on his head helps him stand out from other bears and adds cuteness. I also love the perky ears and his little teeth. All in all, I'm stoked on further rendering this bear cub so he can join the character group on my website.
Lastly, this otter was the finished version of a compilation of drawings. I mentioned earlier that I spent some time last night trying to work out a cartoonish otter, and I think this drawing encompassed my illustrations as well as the lifelike photographs I had found. Plus he seems really happy and perky. Thanks for reading! Today will be a fun day.. we're making a trip to petsmart and having lunch downtown. Then later, I get to visit the Illustration building and color these characters! Hopefully I will have another update tonight. Have a lovely day!

sketching

so lately i've been working on some sketches. Trying to find a job has become my new full-time job! So finding time to do some drawing has proven to be difficult... but I do enjoy it when I can!
The first image is a logo I did for my boyfriend's sister. She's a hospitality major and wanted something that didn't consist mainly of a pineapple (which is commonly seen paired with hospitality) so I used a beautiful flamingo holding a plate of fruits in an inviting m
anor and the center piece is indeed a pineapple. I would have put this into photoshop to finish it, but she only needed a sketch. The second sketch is my dog Riley. I spent a while sketching him in real life, then ended up cartooning him in my own way. I believe I truly captured his personality by giving him a larger head and ears, and keeping him fluffy and alert. Today I plan to do some photoshop work.. I haven't in a few weeks and I am VERY excited about it!

News News News!
I am not spam!!!
Does anyone know why for the second time this blog has been claimed to be SPAM!? I must be doing something wrong SOMEHOW!
Erm, anywho, I am extremely excited to announce a few things to you all (whomever is actually reading this). First things first, my professor relayed an e-mail to me from the director of Extreme Makeover Home Edition. Apparently, the director is looking for some SCAD students to participate in a few murals for the new home they will be constructing in Gainsville, Fl. The first thing I thought of was the mural I did for Nick Lacy's room over the summer with the gator's head in it!! So I calmed down and e-mailed the director. I sent him a follow up this morning, and I am waiting to hear back. What a blessing would that be!! To be a part of that show, helping families get back on their feet or helping people who have done so much in the lives of others and deserve something back. I am more than anxious about hearing back from someone.
In other news, Nick and I are GOING TO DISNEY THIS WEEKEND!! We are visiting his sister, Chessy, who is in the Disney College Program. Not only do we get to spend some time with her, but we will ride some rides and enjoy the Disney atmosphere! Oh how I love Disney World. I shall be bringing my work along with me to show whoever wants to take the moment to listen. I will also bring my business cards to flaunt around and hand out. How exciting!
Well, I'd better go. It's time to get ready for work. In the meantime, if you do happen to read this, please say a prayer about this potential job opportunity, and if you don't pray, then just think of me. This would be incredible. And while it's not a paying job persay, it is AMAZING exposure. Thank you all for reading!
Love, Mo.

Christmas Party Invitations

Hello world!
It's me again.
So today, I completed Megan's Christmas party invites. I was going to draw Rudolph myself, however I found out all the cintiq's are unavailable to students while school is out. So, instead, I found this cute illustration that was an album cover of some sort. Once I find the origin of the drawing, I can give credit where credit is due! So far, however, I am coming up short.
Either way, I kinda like the outcome. Your opinions are welcomed :)
That's it for now. Hopefully I can work on more pieces as the week progresses! Might be heading to Disney this weekend, and you can guarantee I will be bringing my business cards, mailers, resume and portfolio to show ANY employee that is willing to listen.
Love, Mo

Hi world!
Just wanting to say good afternoon. Took the woofs on a walk through the cold today here in Savannah, GA. Not able to work on much considering I work tonight, but tomorrow will be a better day to complete Megan's Christmas Party invites.
In the meantime, here is a shot of Abbey and Riley sleeping this morning, keeping mommy warm.
Have a great day all!

My first ever blog!
GO ME!
This is my first blogger entry. I feel so hip!
Well I am about to begin work on my first piece outside of college. It is an invitation to a Christmas party my dear friends are throwing this year, and I am lucky enough to design their invites! I shall be posting the work in-progress so any critiquing is welcomed :) Rudolph with a martini is my first glorious idea, and I can go from there.
Other than that, life is grand! My dogs, Abbey and Riley, are doing fantastic! So good in fact that they ill be treated to the DP today when Nick gets home from work (that's 'Dog Park' in my language). Have a blessed day!
